African Inequality Review (AIR) Launch
The Cluster of Research Excellence in Inequality, Poverty, and Deprivation (CoRE IPD) welcomes the launch of the African Inequality Review (AIR), a new initiative dedicated to advancing and showcasing high-quality research on inequality across the African continent. Much like the work undertaken by the African Centre of Excellence for Inequality Research (ACEIR), AIR aims to strengthen collaboration, visibility, and engagement around African inequality research and policy.
AIR has been developed through collaboration amongst CoRE affiliate, ACEIR, as well as the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), the World Bank, and UNU-WIDER. The platform seeks to consolidate and elevate research addressing the drivers and impacts of inequality in African contexts, while improving access for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners.
CoRE IPD supports initiatives that advance rigorous, policy-relevant research and views AIR as a valuable addition to ongoing efforts addressing inequality, poverty, and deprivation across the region. Our African Academic Lead, Murray Leibbrandt, is also involved in AIR’s broader collaborative network and steering activities.
AIR formed part of discussions at the World Inequality Conference in Paris this June, including a dedicated panel on 4 June. The event marked AIR’s international launch, with an Africa-focused launch planned for the near future.
