Prof Marcela Ibanez

Dr. Marcela Ibanez pursued an academic journey in economics, culminating in a PhD from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in 2007, with a dissertation titled "Social Dilemmas: the role of incentives, norms and institutions." She began her professional career as a Research Assistant and Lecturer at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, from 1997 to 2002, engaging in various projects and teaching courses in economics. She furthered her academic pursuits with postdoctoral positions at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and the University of Innsbruck, Austria, before joining the University of Göttingen as a Junior Professor of Development Economics in 2009. She progressed to become an Associate Professor in 2016, leading the group in behavioral development economics at the Center for the Study of Poverty, Equity, and Growth.
