Prof Andreas Fuchs


Prof. Dr. Andreas Fuchs, after completing his doctoral studies at the University of Göttingen in 2012, conducted postdoctoral research at Heidelberg University and Princeton University, focusing on political determinants of foreign aid and international trade. During this period, he co-developed the influential "AidData's Chinese Official Finance to Africa Dataset," illuminating China's development initiatives in Africa. He held professorial positions at Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy before assuming the Chair of Development Economics at the University of Göttingen in 2019. Engaged in various academic and professional associations, he also serves as a consultant for organizations such as the Bertelsmann Foundation, the European Commission, and the OECD. His research, widely published in esteemed journals, has earned recognition and garnered attention from prominent media outlets like the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Financial Times, Spiegel, The Economist, and Washington Post.
